2009 MOTOCROSS RULES
1. Ride in 1st gear only in designated areas.
2. Sign Up as soon as possible. Drivers meeting following sign up in front of announcer's booth.
3. Equipment: Riders must wear a helmet, goggles, boots above the ankle, a long-sleeve shirt and gloves. The chest protector is strongly recommended. Quad must have a tether-type engine kill switch.
4. Numbers must be on all 3 sides. If the scorekeepers cannot see or read your number they may not score you.
5. Waivers: Everyone signs a waiver and a sign up sheet. Parent or Legal Guardian must sign and be present for children under 18 years old.
6. All kickstands must come off; Shifters must come off in the 50 stock class.
7. Participation trophies (4th place and up) will be given to the 50cc stock class only.
8. Placement trophies will be given to 1st through 3rd per class for all classes other than 125A, 250A, Quad and Open Class.
9. 125A, 250A, Quad and Open classes will be awarded CASH prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
10. Certain classes may be run together and scored separately at Club's discretion.
11. 50cc and 65cc riders may have 1 parent/guardian on the track to aid rider's) with getting up and restarted. Absolutely no children under 18 are allowed to be on the track for assistance in these classes.
12. 50cc stock, 50cc modified, 65 beginner, and Small Trail classes will ride SMALL track. All other bikes will ride ENTIRE track.
13. Tie breakers: The 2nd moto always determines overall finish for the day.
Example: 1st moto 2nd moto Final Score/Place
Bike #18: 1st 2nd 3 points = 2nd place
Bike #12: 2nd 1st 3 points = 1st place
14. If a rider (or member of family) uses foul language or threatens or strikes another rider or track official, that rider is subject to instant disqualification for unsportsman-like conduct.
15. Quad class: You must be 16 (and prove it) to race this class. If under the age of 18, you must have a Parent or Legal Guardian sign waiver and be present while racing. Signed permission slips will not be accepted.
16. It is not the responsibility of the track officials to aid riders up in an event a rider goes down while racing. The track officials will assist the rider(s) as much as possible, but their first priority is alerting other riders of the downed rider(s) ahead.
17. REMINDER: YELLOW FLAG: When a track official puts out the yellow flag that means CAUTION - don't pass and don't jump near yellow flag until past the downed rider.
18. REMINDER: RED FLAG: When a track official puts out the red flag that means the race has been stopped. All riders must STOP as soon as they see the red flag. Do not ride your bike until you have clearance from the track officials.
19. SERIES INFORMATION: Once again, there will be a POINT SYSTEM to award the top riders for the summer. The overall top 3 winners in each class will receive a trophy. All riders attending the end of the year banquet (following September race) will have a chance to win gifts from area sponsors. The point system will work as follows:
1st place = 25 points, 2nd = 22 points, 3rd = 20 points, 4th = 18 points, 5th = 16 points, 6th = 15 points, 7th = 14 points, 8th = 13 points, 9th = 12 points, 10th = 10 points, 11th = 9 points, 12th = 8 points, 13th = 7 points, 14th = 6 points, 15th place and above = 5 points
3 additional points will be given to the rider in each class who gets the hole shot in the 2nd heat race per day.
High points overall in a single class for series points.
20. Free rustic camping. Campfires allowed only in designated areas; please keep area clean of garbage.
21. Adult riders - if you are found to be drinking alcohol at any time during race you will be asked to leave club and disqualified.
22. PETS MUST BE ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES.
23. If a rider finished in the TOP 3 overall 2008 Alpena Cycle Club Series - the rider must advance to the higher class for 2009. If a rider rides the same class and had finished in the top 3 - no points will be given. (Note rider may be riding bigger bike which would automatically put rider in different class). List can be found in club during signup.
Some Examples:
80 beginner overall finish for 2008 was 3rd place - must move to 80 Expert and or 80 open.
65 cc beginner overall finish for 2008 was 1st place - must move to 65 Expert.
125B or 250B rider - must move to 125A/250A Class
24. Once you enter a bike during registration - that is the bike you MUST ride for the remainder of the day (excluding practice). If something happens during practice and you need to change your bike PRIOR to the 1st moto you must notify the person in the CLUBHOUSE not the announcers booth/track officials. No changing of bikes between motos.
Novice class -vs.- Expert Class
1. "A" riders can only move to another "A" class. Example. 125ccA can only move to the 250ccA class, not the 250ccB class. 65cc riders can move to any 85 class. 85 riders can move to any 125cc class.
2. Novice (C) class cannot do the triple jump. It will be marked and watched. If you are found tripling the jump - you will be disqualified.
3. If you break these rules you will be disqualified for the day and moved to the expert class the next time you register.
